An outlet for material I have uncovered in a quest to document the work of architect Joseph Lyman Silsbee. In the absence of a publisher, this is an effort to present that research to a broader public.

Lecture at the Barnes Mansion
If you are in Central New York the second weekend in June and are interested in the subject of this blog, I will be presenting at the George and Rebecca Barnes Foundation's annual "Save the Mansion Reception and Tour" on June 8th. I will be talking about J. L. Silsbee's interior design work, the remarkable Barnes Dining Room and his life-long relationship with the city of Syracuse. It is a rare opportunity to see this spectacular space and to hear about Silsbee's work in the city where he started his career.
Do you know of a Unitarian church in Chicago that silsbe was working on when F.L. Wright came to work for him in Chicago?
ReplyDeleteYour research is great.
Thanks,
Lew
Thanks for the comment. Yes, Silsbee designed Wright's Uncle's Church in Chicago. It was called All Souls Unitarian Church. I haven't blogged on it yet though.
